As a result of winning the largest HUBZone Contract in the Southwest Region of the US, SGS, LLC was recently recognized by the National HUBZone Council as the Southwest Region “Star Performer” for 2007.  The award was presented to SGS by Mr. Ron Newlan, Small Business Association (SBA) representative at the National HUBZone Council Meeting and Conference in Washington DC.  The award was accepted by Eddie Scott, SGS President and Ms. Jill Freitas, SGS Business Development Director.

“We are extremely grateful to be honored by the National Council” said Freitas. “The Southwest Region is very large region, from Louisiana all the way to the west coast, including California.  Receiving this award is a compliment to the hard work and dedication of our entire staff”.

In January 2009, SGS will celebrate its 10 Year Anniversary from its home office in the heart of Bricktown.  Since relocating its offices to Bricktown in 2005, SGS has won Federal construction contracts in excess of $100M, mostly for the Department of Defense.  SGS currently has projects underway in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Illinois.

The US Government’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program encourages small businesses, such as SGS, to be located in and hire from economically distressed communities. The HUBZone Contractors National Council is a private, nonprofit membership association. The Council advocates legislation to strengthen the HUBZone program and educates Federal Agencies on their responsibilities to increase contracting opportunities for HUBZone firms and their employees.
