Cherokee Hills Baptist Church Auditorium
SGS served as the Design-Builder / Prime Contractor on this 14,200 SF renovation and addition for the Cherokee Hills Baptist Church. New additions to the Church included the following:
-
Lobby / Foyer
-
Worship Auditorium
-
Choir Suite
-
Sound System
-
Men and Women Restrooms
-
Mechanical/Electrical Rooms
-
Exterior Courtyard
-
Parking Lot
The new Auditorium has seating for 750 members/guests, a Baptistry, a Motorized Projection Screen, and Sound System. The Choir Suite includes risers in the same configuration as the auditorium, seating for 65 choir members, multiple storage areas for robes, and a music library.
This project also involved the renovation of the north façade of the Church Building. The renovation included demolition of the existing entrance and constructing a new entrance that blended with the new addition. EIFS was used on the new entrance and front elevations to tie the entire building together. All windows on the north side were replaced with new energy-efficient windows. Large aluminum window systems were used to help identify the entrances and to allow views both in and out of the Church from the Foyer and Courtyard areas.
The Courtyard area serves a dual purpose of creating a nice space while separating the addition from the existing building. A large Porte-Cochere on the west side of the Church helps identify the main entrance while providing a practical drop-off and pick-up area for Parishioners. An exterior walkway extends down the west and south sides of the addition helping to break up the mass of the Sanctuary while providing an additional area to congregate when the weather permits.
