Delaware Tribe Early Care & Education Center

Scope of Work:

SGS served as the Prime Contractor / Design-Builder. This project includes the design and construction of an Early Care and Education Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The mission of the Early Care and Education Center is to provide a high-quality early childhood program in a safe and nurturing environment that promotes each child's individual development while being responsive to the family's needs. Careful attention was given to the layout of the Facility, meeting the needs of the teachers, children, parents, and administrators. The Center is 13,000 SF and can serve up to 152 children, ages birth through six years. The lobby/reception desk is an open area where the staff welcomes the parents and children. Parental information is displayed to keep parents informed, as well as displaying arts and crafts made by the children.

The floor plan allows wonderful outdoor viewing opportunities with picture windows and glass doors with glass side panels. Counter size refrigerators are provided in both the infant and toddler rooms for bottles and food storage, taking health and sanitary conditions into consideration. Cubbyholes and backpack storage is provided at appropriate heights for each classroom and are easily accessible by the children and adults. The Center also has adequate space to create gardens and other natural outdoor play environments recommended as best practices for early childhood programs.

Specific areas of the Early Care and Education Center include Lobby/Reception area; Administration Offices, Resource Room, Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K Classrooms, Isolated Sick Room, Full-Size Kitchen with Dry Storage, Utility/Laundry Room, Multiple Storage Areas, Restrooms, Multiple Age-Appropriate Outdoor Activity / Learning Areas, and a 500 sq. ft. FEMA Rated Tornado/Storm Shelter.
