Scope of Work:

SGS served as the Prime Contractor / Design-Builder. The Resource & Education Center provides various educational opportunities to members of the Delaware Tribe and community.

The Resource & Education Center is a 10,530 sq. ft. pre-engineered metal structure with a standing seam metal roof system. The exterior consists of a natural stone base and heavy-duty Exterior Insulated Finishing System (EIFS). A large amount of natural light is permitted through the use of many aluminum windows throughout the facility and aluminum storefront materials in the front entry and courtyard entrances.  In the lobby, the ceiling vaults up to over 11 feet where the full-height curtainwall connects and provides access to a large landscaped courtyard.

 

The Resource & Education Center utilizes a 28 foot, full-height, accordion-style operable partition which allows the Tribe access either to an open Training Room of approximately 30’x50’ or shutting the operable partition and having two Training Rooms. These areas are used for periodic training and continuing education sessions of administrative staff.

A kitchen equipped with appliances and wooden cabinets services the Training Rooms by a pass-through counter with a solid overhead coiling door. Both the Break Room and the Resource Room are large enough to hold meetings with numerous personnel.

Approximately five years after the completion of the original Resource & Education Center, the Delaware Tribe asked SGS to expand the building on both the north and south ends.  The north end addition is approximately 3,793 square feet, and includes new office spaces, rest rooms, printer and resource areas, mechanical and electrical rooms. The north addition also includes an infant/sleep area and shower. This space will also serve as a tornado shelter/safe room for the facility. The south addition includes approximately 992 square feet for additional training and training auxiliary spaces. The addition’s exterior was constructed to match the existing stone and EIFS facade and current metal roof system.
